dc.description ON THE 4TH OF AUGUST 2020 2 MAJOR EXPLOSIONS TOOK PLACE AT THE PORT OF BEIRUT DUE TO IMPROPERLY STORED AMMONIUM NITRATES RENDERING THE CITY WITHOUT SEAPORT . THE DAMAGE EXTENDED TO COVER BIG AREAS OF THE GREATER BEIRUT. THE OPPORTUNITY FROM THIS DILEMMA ISS TO REMODEL THE CITY AND FIX IT SINCE THE BLAST DESTROYED MAINLY FAR AREAS THAT WERE KNOWN AS A BURDEN . OUR MAIN FOCUS HERE IS ON THE 1935 EXPANSION THAT INCLUDES THE PORT AND ITS SURROUNDING WE WILL BE DISCUSSING THE REASONS BEHIND THE BALST IN THE FIRST PLACE WHICH ARE , GOVERNEMENTAL CORRUPTION, THE DOMINANT CULTURE OF NEGLIGENCE AND THE DOMINANCE OF THE SURROUNDING (SYRIA, IRAN, ISRAEL, SAUDI ARABIA), NOT TO FORGET THE HAIFA PORT LANCHING SIDE TO SIDE WITH THE ARAB COUNTRIES/ISRAEL DEAL OF THE CENTURY IN THAT CONTEXTUAL AMBIANCE WE WILL MENTION WHY WE NEED AN URBAN RENEWAL PLAN, BY SHOWING HOW THE STUDY AREA HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TROUBLE FOR THE CAPITAL BEIRUT (SOCIO/ECONOMIC) AND HIGHLITHING ON THE MINORITY OF POOR CLUSTERED TEXTURES IN THE MIDDLE OF AN EXTRAVAGANTLY RICH AREA NOT TO FORGET ABOUT VISUAL BLOCKAGES BETWEEN BEIRUT’S TOURRISTIC AREAS AND THE SEA ADD TO IT THE LACK OF INFRASTRUCTURE. AS WE MOVE TO THE MAPPING MANY CONCLUSIONS RISE TO EXPLAIN AND LATER GIVE A REASON FOR ANY ARCHITECTURAL OR URBAN GESTURE. AFTER 5000 YEARS OF DEFORMATION IN BEIRUT’S ANCIENT HARBOUR, THE COASTLINE WAS MUTATING FROM A NATURAL INTENDED MORPHOLOGY TO A MORE RECTILINEAR DISPOSITION DURING LATER PERIODS WE CAN SAY THAT BEIRUT HAS A HYBRID PATTERN SYSTEM, WHERE WE CAN FIND RADIAL CELLULAR TREE AND LINEAR IN SOME MINOR CASES THE OPPORTUNITY HERE IS TO WORK MORE ON UNIFYING IT IN THE WAY THAT BEST FITS THE CITY AS ONE ORGANISM THE URBAN PATTERN AT LEAST IN OUR STUDY AREA WHICH IS THE PORT AND ITS SURROUNDING THE THIRD CONCLUSION THAT IS RELATED TO THE UHI EFFECT STATES THAT OUR STUDY AREA HAS SOME LEFT BEHIND SPOTS AND HAS SOME OTHER MISSUSED SPOTS THE OPPORTUNITY HERE IS MAKE SURE OF USING OUR STUDY AREA IN A DIFFERENT CONTEXT THAT WORKS ON REDUCING THE UHI EFFECT DESIGN WISE AND URBANWISE MOVING TO THE PROJECT SOME DESIGN INTENTION ARE , VISIONARY ARCHITECTURE SUBMERGING THE PUBLIC IN THE PRIVATE DESIGNING A NEW CUSTOM BUILDING THAT USES ARCHITECTURE TO CLEARLY REFLECT HOW STRICT THE NEW ORDER IS. dc.description.abstract This document focuses on carrying Beirut from the after the blast effect into a full functional better than before state, which can be done by working on many fields , one of those fields is architecture and design. It identifies the architectural tricks, manners, schools that can be used as a platform to promote the urban functionality . The study goes beyond the findings related to pragmatic issues , such as beautiful architectural compositions (built and void), but seeks to comprehensively address the social and behavioral and economical needs of the city. in the first place, architectural elements and design factors are combined to create an optimal composition, achieving by that an effective environment that comprehensively address the needs of a capital and that of the wider circle (governorate) . as a result we will get a development design that promote care for whole country . however this development won’t be worthy if its architecture was not meaningful to its occupants. This thesis draws upon theories related to urban functionality, social integration and meaningful architecture. It explores the two facets of a city (physical/social), presenting various needs and issues related to the city. Pertinent precedent studies that present a modern and up to date approach to addressing the needs of a capital are used to exhibit the manner for which the application of theory has been implemented in the built environment. Relatable case studies are discussed and evaluated on the architectural level.       en_US
